In 1990 the Church-in-the-Field was threatened with closure because the roof was in a dangerous state and the Diocese was unable to finance the necessary work. A group of people in Low Ham got together and formed the Church-in-the-Field Charitable Association with a view to raising the necessary funds.
This they did and the roof was repaired. As a village we very much value our beautiful and unusual church. It is part of the fabric of the village, not only as a place of worship but also as the center of our community and as a unique historic building.
Over the years the Association has continued to raise funds for further repairs to the church by holding garden fetes, raffles, open gardens, flower festivals, Christmas Fairs, etc. Our latest project has been to raise funds to repair the 18th century church clock, install a self-winding mechanism and restore the clock face. This has now been carried out and re-installed.
